Sarah L.
Wilson

Sarah Louise Wilson is a multidisciplinary artist and unstoppable creative force based in California. A writer, director, painter, educator, and occasional actor, Sarah moves fluidly across mediums, always chasing the electric pulse of a good story. Whether she’s on set, in a classroom, or behind a canvas, her work is infused with wit, warmth, and an unshakable sense of purpose.

She co-founded Stella Bella Productions in 2006 with Mercedes LeAnza, launching with the semi-autobiographical romantic comedy Jelly, starring Natasha Lyonne and the legendary Ed McMahon. The film captured hearts, drew major talent, and made its way to Netflix, Hulu, PBS, and The Sundance Channel after winning four Accolade Awards and premiering at major festivals.

Under Stella Bella, Sarah wrote and co-directed The Accidental Death of Joey by Sue alongside Neal Thibedeau. The film premiered at the HBO Latino Film Festival and featured a powerhouse ensemble cast including Lin Shaye, Ignacio Serricchio, Vanessa Libertad Garcia, and Mercedes LeAnza.

From short films and plays to music videos, documentaries, and international collaborations, Sarah’s creative compass is always pointed toward what’s real and resonant. In 2016, while teaching filmmaking in Kazakhstan, she directed No Exit, a feature shot entirely on location that went on to win multiple international awards.

In 2023, she was awarded the California Creative Corps Grant to develop a new musical centering on stories from San Bernardino County during the COVID-19 pandemic — blending song, truth, and resilience into a powerful communal experience.
